Welcome to the Family
If you are new to The Highlands, welcome! We believe every person, regardless of his or her personal journey, is valuable to God and to us. The Highlands has loved the Antelope Valley for over 32 years. Our goal is to help people say yes to God. We are a safe place to come as you are, ask questions, find healing, and become part of a team who cares for one another and for those in our community.
What To Expect
Visiting a new church can be intimidating so we want you to feel prepared and comfortable. Here are the answers to some FAQs:
What should I wear?
We want you to be comfortable. People wear a range of styles, from jeans and t-shirts to dresses and suits. No matter how you prefer to dress, you will be welcomed here.
How long is the service?
Our services include worship, a Biblical message, and often a creative surprise. Typically, they are 1 hour long.

How will new guests be treated?
You can expect to be treated the same way we treat everyone. The Highlands is unusually friendly – expect quite a few handshakes. But we also respect that people often want to just check things out. We welcome new guests, but we won’t embarrass you. Also, as a first-time guest, we would love to offer you a free welcome gift, so be sure to visit one of our Connect Team members (they're typically in a light blue shirt).
What about my kids?
We offer safe, free Biblical lessons through our Faith Factory ministry for newborns through 5th grade students at all services. We also have a ministry just for middle school and high school students, called Refuge Youth, during our 10:00AM and 11:30AM services. Your children will be well taken care of by trained leaders who teach age-appropriate lessons. Your children are also welcome to join you in the service, if you prefer.
Am I expected to give money?
We believe in the value of generous giving and make time each week to honor God with our finances during our services. However, your response to give is between you and Jesus. We will never pressure anyone to give. If you have additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Next Steps
The Highlands exists to help people say “Yes” to God. We believe that everyone, regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey has a next “Yes”. Here are three things we consider essential to a growing relationship with Christ. If you need help taking your next step, don’t hesitate to connect with us!
Water Baptism
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, then you are ready to be baptized. It is your opportunity to publicly show others that you have accepted Jesus and are now living for Him. We generally offer baptism opportunities on the 2nd Sunday of each month. You will be invited to a class before your scheduled baptism. Call our church offices at (661)273-1000 or visit our Baptism page here for more info.

Bible Reading
Nothing will impact your relationship with Jesus as much as daily Bible-reading. As a church, the greatest gift we can give you is the confidence that you can read God’s Word, hear His voice, and walk in His plan for your life. We’ve chosen to use the Life Reading Bible Plan to encourage us in the discipline of daily reading. To begin your daily Bible-reading plan, download the app here or click the PDF below.

Community
We believe spiritual growth happens best in the midst of community. Living life alone is not what God intended for us. Doing church as a team is God’s design for ministry, so The Highlands provides opporturnities to be involved in small groups, where you can find encouragement and accountability. We have many different types of group opportunities at The Highlands, so call us at (661)273-1000 for more info.

We are excited to help you explore the different resource available to you. We hope you find your home here at The Highlands Christian Fellowship. We encourage to you build relationships by joining a team, class or life group.
