Choose Your Own Christmas: Eternal Father

Pastor Jeremy Mayol

Isaiah 9:6 (CSB)
6 For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

What is Jesus the Father of?

1. Jesus is the Father of Care.

1 Peter 5:7 (CSB)
7 Casting all your cares on him, because he cares about you.
Psalm 46:1 (CSB)
1 God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.

2. Jesus of the Father of Strength.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

3. Jesus is the Father of Generosity.

Proverbs 11:24-25 (CSB)
24 One person gives freely, yet gains more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor. 25 A generous person will be enriched, and the one who gives a drink of water will receive water.
1 John 3:16-18 (CSB)
16 This is how we have come to know love: He laid down his life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.17 If anyone has this world’s goods and sees a fellow believer in need but withholds compassion from him — how does God’s love reside in him?18 Little children, let us not love in word or speech, but in action and in truth.

4. Jesus is the Father of Hope.

Philippians 4:6-7 (CSB)
6 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
