Love in Action – September 25, 2024

Pastor Myunique Ferguson

John 14:15 (NLT)

15 “If you love me, keep my commands.

  • We know we love God when we keep His commands.
  • Our source of our obedience shouldn’t be fear, pride or blessings, it should be love.

1 John 5:3 (NLT)

3 Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.

  • When we really love God, we WANT to obey him. You ENJOY doing it.

Deuteronomy 4:1 (NLT)

1 And now, Israel, listen carefully to these decrees and regulations that I am about to teach you. Obey them so that you may live, so you may enter and occupy the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (NLT)

4 Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. 5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. 8 Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Deuteronomy 10: 12-14 (NLT)

12 And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. 13 And you must always obey the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good.

Deuteronomy 11:1 (NLT)

1 “You must love the Lord your God and always obey his requirements, decrees, regulations, and commands.

Deuteronomy 11:22-23 (NLT)

22 Be careful to obey all these commands I am giving you. Show love to the Lord your God by walking in his ways and holding tightly to him. 23 Then the Lord will drive out all the nations ahead of you, though they are much greater and stronger than you, and you will take over their land.

  • Our obedience should be pure.
  • Our obedience should be careful.
  • Our obedience should be consistent
